Make your health a priority – free urological prevention

In March, we are thinking about prevention, which is why we have prepared a great offer for you – limited to 100 free entrances to the examination.

Preventive examination by a urologist for men over 40 years of age free of charge (instead of the original administrative fee of €59). You do not need an exchange ticket for the examination. The promotion is valid during the month of March until capacity is reached.

Why is prevention important?

Regular health care is crucial at any age. Preventive urological examination helps to detect diseases early, which often do not show any symptoms in the early stages.

  • Prostate cancer is one of the three most common cancers in men (mostly over 70 years of age). Approximately 2 400 new cases are recorded annually. In the early stages, they usually do not occur no visible symptoms, so regular prevention by a urologist is crucial.
  • Testicular cancer is slightly less common, but mainly affects young people aged 15 to 30. Early detection of the disease greatly increases the likelihood of a successful cure. When spotted unusual symptoms on the testicles, do not hesitate to see a urologist.

You can book your appointment through the client centre.

Important: Please bring your medical records or an extract from your medical chart, a list of medications you take, how often and their dosage.

About the ambulance

Urology outpatient clinic in Váš Lekár Polyclinic focuses on diagnosis, treatment and prevention of urinary tract diseases in both men and women and diseases of the male genital system. The outpatient clinic deals with acute and chronic problems related to the kidneys, bladder, urinary tract or prostate.

Patients most often visit the outpatient clinic for problems such as urinary tract infections, stones in the urinary tract, prostate problems or incontinence. The aim of the examination is to make an accurate diagnosis and to adjust the appropriate treatment according to the patient’s health condition.

Care includes a medical history and clinical urological examination supplemented by diagnostic methods such as urinary ultrasound, uroflowmetry or cystoscopy. The outpatient clinic also performs ultrasound examinations of the male genital organs, application of drugs into the bladder and treatment of urolithiasis.

Patients are treated in the outpatient clinic MUDr. Ján Švihra, Ph.D., MUDr. Marián Harmaňoš and MUDr. Garaj Peter, experienced urologists with many years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of urological diseases.

The urological examination itself takes place in an environment with an emphasis on professional health assessment, discretion and clear communication during the examination.

The advantages of the ambulance include appointments on time, modern and clean premises and good accessibility (Eurovea 2, Staré Mesto, Bratislava).

The outpatient clinic accepts patients from 16 years of age. It is necessary to bring an exchange slip from a general practitioner or other specialist to the examination, which does not apply to the preventive urological examination.

At the first visit to the urologist, the procedure varies according to gender and reason. For men, it is often a preventive check-upmužov ide často o preventívnu prehliadku, in which the doctor checks the prostate, urinary tract and performs other preventive tests. For women, the visit focuses on a specific problem, such as recurring infections or urinary tract problems. The doctor will always start by talking about your symptoms and health condition and, if necessary, complete a physical examination, ultrasound, or blood tests.

Capitalized clients

A capitated client is one who has a signed Health Care Agreement with a general practitioner or gynaecologist and is in possession of medical records. This client is entitled to complete health care, including a statutory preventive check-up, which is covered by public health insurance.

Uncapitated clients are not eligible for reimbursement of this exam by the health insurance company. The agreement is signed for a minimum of six months, after which time it is possible to switch to another doctor, including a gynecologist. If you have signed this agreement, your general practitioner and gynaecologist are your primary doctors in the area.

The healthcare agreement is signed by the client and the doctor, who will also explain the procedure to the client. Subsequently, the nurse will arrange for the request and transfer of the medical documentation from the previous doctor to us at the Váš Lekár Polyclinic and the general practitioner’s outpatient clinic.

However, this is not possible until six months after the last Health Care Agreement has been signed with the current GP or gynaecologist. Once your medical records have been received, our nurse will contact you to arrange an initial check-up.

The client gets the opportunity to see more than 23 specialists in one facility, including a general practitioner. He can also avail of expert counselling to improve physical and mental health as well as self-care within one building.

Express appointments within a few days, the possibility of a telephone consultation with the doctor, client management – reminders of preventive check-ups and notifications of upcoming booked appointments.
